IHC orders jail officials not to keep Imran Khan, Bushra in solitary confinement

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday declared the petitions filed against the solitary confinement of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan as well as his wife Bushra Bibi admissible for the hearing in light of the decisions given in the cases of Begum Nusrat Bhutto and Begum Shamim Afridi, directing the prison authorities not to keep the former first couple in solitary confinement, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.  

Pronouncing the verdict, Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro ordered the Adiala Jail superintendent to arrange meetings of PTI founder with Bushra Bibi. 

He said that similarly, Imran be also allowed to meet with his other family members according to the jail rules.

The judge further directed that arrangements should also be made for telephonic conversations between Imran and his sons. 

He directed that the former prime minister be provided with newspapers and books on a daily basis. “Similarly, the couple should also be provided medical facilities as per jail rules,” the judge ordered.

“The court disposes of the pleas concerning the former prime minister and his wife with instructions,” read the verdict.

Justice Soomro ordered the jail superintendent to ensure implementation of the court orders. “He should make sure that the couple is not kept in solitary confinement.”
