NDMA to provide Rs7b for Karachi Transformation Plan

As the transformation plan for country’s economic hub has been prepared, projects worth Rs739 billion would be started during the next three years.

According to media reports, the funding of the projects would be issued from PSDP, Public-Private Partnership and Supreme Court Fund. There were also proposals to seek funding for the Karachi’s transformation plan from the international lenders, while the Ministry of Law would also approach the apex court to use SC fund.

The documents stated that funds would be arranged through technical grant in case of the not being allowed to use SC fund, while the NDMA would also provide Rs7 billion for the Karachi transformation plan.

A steering committee with Member National Assembly (MNA) Najeeb Haroon in chair has also been constituted to review the implementation of the plan. 

It is also proposed to form a Monitoring and Evaluation Committee under the chairmanship of member planning.
