14 terrorists including key TTP leader arrested in intel operations
During the Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) in various cities of Punjab, the Counter-Terrorism Department has arrested 14 terrorists including an important commander of proscribed organizations Tehreek-Taliban Pakistan and Jamaat Al-Ahrar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
According to the CTD spokesperson, the IBOs were conducted in various cities of Punjab including Lahore, Khushab, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Toba Tek Singh, Gujrat and Sahiwal.
During the operation, a key commander belonging to the TTP and Jamaat Al-Ahrar was arrested.
Police recovered explosive material, three hand grenades, four ED bombs, five detonators, 15 safety fuses, Prima cards, mobile phones, and cash from the possession of the arrested terrorists, the spokesperson added.
The terrorists were Identified as Safeen, Ansar, Waheed, Saad Habib, Abdul Salam, Qamar, Zahid, Khair Din, Usman, Ali Akbar, Bilal, and three others.
According to the CTD spokesman, the terrorists were planning attacks on important installations.
The CTD arrested 79 suspects during 588 combing operations this week.
The authorities questioned 25,360 people who were held in the combing operations.
The CTD is pursuing the goal of Safe Punjab and is determined to root out the scourge of terrorism, the spokesperson vowed.
