Zak Crawley vows aggressive England approach ahead of final Ashes Test

England opener Zak Crawley has vowed that the visitors will continue to play an attacking brand of cricket in the fifth and final Test of the ongoing Ashes series, regardless of Australia’s bowling lineup.

With Nathan Lyon ruled out, young spinner Todd Murphy is expected to make his home Test debut at the SCG. Crawley emphasized that England will look to put pressure on Murphy, just as they plan to challenge all Australian bowlers.

“Whoever plays, I think that's the mantra of our team: to try and put pressure on people,” Crawley said. “Todd's a very good bowler, but I can envisage us trying to put some pressure on him, like we would all their bowlers. That's going to come with some risks, and if it's turning, it's definitely going to be a threat.”

Murphy has played seven Tests, all away from home, taking 22 wickets, and now gets his first chance to lead Australia’s spin attack at home.

England are also likely to bring in Shoaib Bashir, who has not featured in the series so far. The visitors announced a 12-man squad for the SCG Test, including Matthew Potts in place of Gus Atkinson.
