NEPRA okays Rs1.14 per unit cut in basic power tariff

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has accepted the government’s request for a Rs1.14 cut in the basic tariff of electricity, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The new rates are effective from July 1.

Now, the tariff for domestic consumers has come down from Rs48.84 per unit to Rs47.69 per unit.

The tariff for the protected domestic consumers, consuming up to 100 units of electricity, has now dropped to Rs10.54 after a reduction of Rs1.15 per unit, while that for protected domestic consumers, consuming from 101 to 200 units of electricity, has come down to Rs13.01 per unit after a drop by Rs1.15 per unit. 

Similarly, the tariff for the non-protected domestic consumers, consuming between 1 to 100 units of electricity, has reached Rs22.44 per unit following a drop by Rs1.15 per unit.

Likewise, the tariff for those consuming 201 to 300 units of electricity now stands at Rs33.10 per unit after a cut by Rs1.16 per unit, while the tariff for those consuming between 301 and 400 units has now reached Rs37.99 after a cut by Rs1.16 per unit, for those consuming from 401 to 500 units, the tariff now stands at Rs40.22 per unit after a reduction by Rs1.14 per unit.

The tariff for consumers consuming between 501 and 600 units of electricity has now reached Rs41.62 after a cut by Rs1.16 per unit.     

Similarly, the tariff for consumers consuming from 601 to 700 units has reached Rs42.76 per unit after having dropped by Rs1.16 per unit, while the tariff for those consuming more than 700 units now stands at Rs47.69 after a reduction by Rs1.15 per unit.
