The Supreme Court has sought a detailed rely from PTI Chief Imran Khan in contempt of court case till Nov 5 and adjourned the hearing till Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the proceedings on a contempt of court case against Imran Khan, Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial has remarked that the top PTI leadership had assured the court regarding its May 25 long march route observing that the top leadership starts from its Chairman Imran Khan

A five-judge larger bench of the Supreme Court headed by CJP Bandial on Wednesday heard the contempt case against Imran Khan.

President Supreme Court Bar Association Ahsan Bhoon appeared before the court on behalf of PTI lawyers Babar Awan and Faisal Chaudhry. He said that both Awan and Chaudhry had submitted their replies to the court.

The CJP remarked that it appeared that the replies of the PTI lawyers were appropriate but he would examine them later. First of all, let’s hear the point of view of the government lawyer, he added.

While arguing, Additional Attorney General Amir Rehman said that Imran had said that he was unaware of the court order and he had also denied any assurance given to the court on his behalf. Nevertheless, the assurance was given by Imran, the AAG added.

He said that first court order was issued at 11am and the second order was given at 6pm.

The chief justice of Pakistan remarked that the interval time between the two orders was meant to take directions from the PTI leadership but the court was not informed by the party lawyers from whom they got the directions.

“If the (lawyers) failed to talk to the PTI leadership, why didn’t they inform the court? They should give an explanation. The court trusted Babar Awan and Faisal Ch. Both the lawyers never said that they did not get the directions from the leadership,” CJP Bandial remarked

The top judge continued: “How Imran came to know about the court order? The assurance was given by the top leadership of the PTI and the top party leadership starts from Imran.”

The AAG told the court that according to Faisal Ch, the PTI directions came from Asad Umar as no contact could be made with Imran Khan. He said Babar claimed nobody had mentioned the name of Imran.

Faisal Ch said that Imran could not be contacted because jammers were installed all along the routes of the PTI march. Asad Umar had assured that the march would be restricted to the assigned routes, Faisal Ch added.

The CJP comforted the worried Faisal Ch saying the court was not going to issue notice to him.

However, Justice Ijazul Ahsan remarked that the PTI lawyers did not tell the court that they could not contact the PTI leadership. He said that the court trusted the PTI lawyers.

“The PTI misused the Supreme Court orders,” Justice Ahsan observed.

CJP Bandial remarked that political leaders should be role models.

“The Supreme Court is the guarantor of basic human rights. We do not want to use our pen in an unconstitutional way. Look, what Justice Qazi Faez Isa has written in his Faizabad sit-in case. He wrote that deaths occurred in ambulances stuck in Faizabad sit-in,” the CJP added.

Seeking a detailed reply from Imran Khan, the court adjourned the case till Saturday.
