Balochistan’s coastal belt braces for cyclone Shaheen
Flood wreaks havoc in Dera Bugti
Cyclone Shaheen — that was Cyclone Ghulab when in Indian Gujarat — after passing close to Karachi is now moving towards Balochistan’s coastline and is predicted to cause damage to structures and may generate urban flooding, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Pakistan Meteorological Weather Department on Saturday issued warnings and alerts that sea conditions would remain rough or very rough with a high surge at times until October 3 and fishermen are advised not to venture in the sea until Sunday.
The weather office forecasted that heavy rains may generate urban flooding in Lasbela, Ormara, Pasni, Gwadar, Turbat and Jiwani, and windstorms may cause damage to vulnerable structures.
Earlier Balochistan govt spokesman Liaquat Shahwani said that rainfall was recorded in various areas including Gwadar and Lasbela but no losses were reported yet.
Liaquat Shahwani said relief items are available at PDMA warehouses and as per the demand of deputy commissioners, non-food items were dispatched also.
Sharing an update about the ‘Gulab cyclone’, Shahwani said that high waves up to 6 to 8 feet at Gwadar/Pasni/Ormara sea and rainfall expected in next two days also.

In the last 24 hours, heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms wreaked havoc in Dera Bugti. Roads leading to rural areas were closed due to flood situation in nearby rivers and canals.
The main gas supply line was swept away due to which the gas supply in the city was also suspended.
Rainwater also entered the houses in College Colony and the walls of several houses were also collapsed.
The heavy monsoon rain played havoc for the poor and downtrodden as rainwaters also wet away their belonging and animals.
Dera Bugti Deputy Commissioner Zulfiqar Ali visited the affected areas.
