Punjab lifts smart lockdown from August 3

The authorities decided on Sunday to lift the smart lockdown in Punjab from 12:00 AM Monday, August 3. A notification in this regard has been issued.

Initially, it was decided that smart lockdown would remain effective across the province from July 28 to August 5. However, the lockdown was lifted Sunday midnight. The decision was taken on the basis of encouraging results of the samples collected from people visiting cattle markets in the province.

According to the notification, now people will be allowed to hold Kashmir solidarity rallies on August 5 under the standard operating procedures prepared by the government to control the spread of coronavirus.

The notification also says that all businesses would remain open from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Medical stores, small flourmills, bread makers, puncture shops and agriculture workshops are allowed to remain open round the clock. Inter-district transport would continue to operate 24 hours a day, while small grocery stores would remain open at specified timings throughout the week.

According to the notification issued by the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Secretary Muhammad Usman, restrictions will remain effective until August 17. Also, churches will open for worship on Sundays only from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
