Inflation rate jumps 1.83pc in October: Bureau of Statistics

Inflation rate jumped 1.83 percent in October compared to September as the annual rate of inflation in October reached 6.24 percent, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel. 

Bureau of Statistics releases monthly inflation report on Monday. Average inflation was 4.73 percent from July to October. 

The Finance Ministry had estimated inflation for October at between 5 and 6 percent. The annual inflation rate was recorded at 5.6 percent in September 2025. 

The inflation rate in rural areas increased by 2.26 percent on a monthly basis last month. Inflation rate in cities increased by 1.54 percent in October. The annual inflation rate in rural areas was 6.59 percent last month. 

According to Statistics, annual inflation rate in cities in October was 6 percent. Tomatoes became 58.64 percent more expensive, onions 18.7 percent and vegetables 12.2 percent more expensive in a month. 

Wheat became 10.5 percent more expensive, flour 5.49 percent and eggs 4.22 percent more expensive in October. Electricity became 8.78 percent more expensive in October.
