FPCCI launches Pakistan’s first Transparency and Accountability Index

Patron-in-Chief of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), SM Tanveer, has welcomed the launch of Pakistan’s first-ever national Transparency and Accountability Index, calling it a significant step toward promoting a fact-based national narrative.

In a statement, SM Tanveer said the index has been introduced by the FPCCI in collaboration with Ipsos, with the aim of providing an objective assessment of transparency and accountability across the country. He noted that the report highlights an important contrast between the perception of corruption and ground realities.

According to the report, while corruption is often perceived to be widespread, the public generally considers its personal dealings with government institutions to be largely free from corruption, he said. This finding, he added, challenges prevailing assumptions and brings much-needed balance to the national discourse.

SM Tanveer said the report has strongly emphasised transparency and accountability as central themes in the national dialogue, which is essential for strengthening governance and restoring public confidence.

He also pointed out that international organisations have begun acknowledging Pakistan’s recent economic improvement, describing it as a positive sign for the country’s economic outlook and reform efforts.

Congratulating all stakeholders on the launch of the Pakistan Transparency and Accountability Index, SM Tanveer said the initiative would help policymakers, institutions, and the business community better understand realities on the ground and work collectively toward sustainable economic and institutional development.
