Miranda Kerr opens up about ‘harmonious’ co-parenting with ex Orlando Bloom

Australian supermodel and entrepreneur Miranda Kerr has offered a rare glimpse into her co-parenting dynamic with former husband Orlando Bloom, describing their relationship as “harmonious” and centred firmly around the well-being of their teenage son.

In an appearance on Paul C Brunson’s We Need to Talk podcast, the 42-year-old spoke candidly about raising 15-year-old Flynn with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 49, years after their separation. Miranda and Orlando began dating in 2007, tied the knot in 2010, and announced their split in 2013.

Reflecting on their decision to part ways, Miranda said both she and Orlando had done significant personal and spiritual work to reach a place of understanding and peace.

 “From day one, Orlando and I had done a lot of spiritual work, and forgiveness was a big part of that,” she shared. “Forgiving each other, forgiving ourselves, and creating peace within the situation.”

She explained that both realised their marriage was no longer bringing out the best in either of them, which led to a conscious and mutual decision to separate. However, Miranda said they were clear from the outset that their son would always come first.

“When we made that decision to separate, I said to him, ‘Let’s always put the needs of Flynn first. Let’s not make it about us,’” she recalled. “Let’s make it about what’s in the best interest of Flynn.”

Miranda added that she understood Orlando would always be a part of her life because of their child, making it essential to maintain a respectful and peaceful relationship.

“When you have a child with someone, they’re always going to be that person’s parent for the rest of their life,” she said. “So why not make it harmonious? Why not make it more peaceful?”

The former Victoria’s Secret model has since moved on and is now married to Snapchat co-founder Evan Spiegel. The couple share three children together—Hart, seven, Myles, five, and 23-month-old Pierre. Despite building a new family, Miranda said her bond with Orlando remains positive and supportive.
