TTAP refuses to attend NDC’s national conference 

The Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP), an alliance of opposition parties, has refused to attend the national conference convened by the National Dialogue Committee (NDC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Sources told the 24News TV channel that the committee had approached the TTAP, but the latter refused, saying that the former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan had tasked it with holding negotiations and these would be held under its auspices.

The conference is due to be held on January 7.

Invitations have been extended to the PML-N, PPP, PTI, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), JUI-F, MQM-P, PML-Q, Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), Awami National Party (ANP) and others.

On Saturday, 24News TV channel reported that taking another step to bring down political temperature in the country, the National Dialogue Committee (NDC) had decided to convene a conference of politicians, lawyers and intellectuals, and that Fawad Chaudhry, Mehmood Maulvi and Imran Ismael had starting reaching out to political leaders in order to invite them to the event.

Fawad said that the purpose of convening the conference was to find a solution to the ongoing political crisis in the country and create a consensus between parties on political issues.

“We have set aside our personal interests and given a priority to the task of bringing about harmony between political parties,” he added.
