Finance Minister Hafeez Shaikh is going to step down in two days, it is learnt reliably.
According to insiders, Shaikh had to be elected as a senator to continue his role in the government. He would be tendering resignation in a couple of days, they said.
The government made him a federal minister for six months following IHC ruled in December that unelected advisers and special assistants could not head government’s committees and interfere in the executive’s domain.
The fate of Finance Minister Shaikh is common gossip as he lost a Senate seat to former premier Yousaf Raza Gillani.
Talks if the finance minister reigns before the budget or after the budget.
