Lightning strikes kill four in South Punjab

As many as four people lost their lives, and four others sustained critical injuries after being struck by lightning during severe weather conditions in various districts of South Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to a spokesman of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the tragic incidents occurred in Rajanpur and Bahawalpur, where all the deceased resided.

Director-General PDMA expressed profound sorrow over the loss of precious human lives and offered condolences to the bereaved families. He also urged citizens to remain indoors and avoid staying under open skies during thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.

In a related weather development, heavy rain lashed Thandiani and other hilly areas of Abbottabad, triggering fears of landslides among the residents.

Meanwhile, Islamabad remained under a canopy of clouds with cold winds sweeping through the capital, and the Met Office has forecast more rainfall in the coming hours.
