Nepra issues reserved verdict on power tariff

National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has pronounced the reserved verdict on the relief package of the electricity tariff for the winter season and sent it to the federal government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Nepra hearing was conducted at the request of the federal government which sought incremental consumption power tariff.
The verdict stated, “The households and commercial entities which will use more electricity will be charged power tariff at Rs12.96/unit.”
“New consumers of electricity will also be charged the same price for excessive use of electricity,” the verdict reads.
Nepra said that no fuel adjustment would be applicable to the relief package.
The relief package would be applicable from Nov 1st to Feb 28.
As per details, new and existing consumers having no reference consumption available in the period of November 2020 to February 2021 shall be offered the same package at the concessionary rate of Rs.12.96/unit through benchmark consumption methodology.
