Sindh govt withdraws pro-chancellor powers from four ministers
Appoints Ismail Rahu as Pro-Chancellor of all public universities
The Sindh government has withdrawn the Pro-Chancellor posts from four provincial ministers and appointed Ismail Rahu, the Provincial Minister for Universities and Boards, as the Pro-Chancellor of all government universities across the province.
According to a notification issued on Tuesday, the posts of Sardar Shah, Jam Khan Shoro, Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, and Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho as Pro-Chancellors have been withdrawn. The decision reverses the appointments made earlier on August 3 this year.
The new notification designates Ismail Rahu as the sole Pro-Chancellor for all public sector universities in Sindh.
Meanwhile, under the relevant universities act, the Mayor of Karachi will continue to serve as the Pro-Chancellor of the Metropolitan University Karachi, the notification clarified.
