Pakistan to work with partners for lasting peace in Palestine: PM

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said that statement issued by Hamas created a window for a ceasefire and ensuring peace in Gaza that they must not allow to close again, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a post on his X account on Saturday morning, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote: “Alhamdolillah, we are closer to a ceasefire than we have been since this genocide was launched on the Palestinian people. Pakistan has always stood by the Palestinian people and shall always do so.”

Shehbaz Sharif also expressed gratitude to US President Trump, as well as to leaderships of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Turkiye, Jordan, Egypt, and Indonesia who, met with President Trump on the sidelines of the recent UNGA session for the resolution of the Palestinian issue.

The prime minister reiterated that Pakistan would continue to work with all its partners and brotherly nations to everlasting peace in Palestine.

FO welcomes Hamas' response to Trump’s plan

Pakistan has welcomeed Hamas' response to the plan announced by President Donald Trump.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Saturday said this offers an important opportunity to secure an immediate ceasefire, end the bloodshed of innocent Palestinians in Gaza, release of hostages and Palestinian prisoners, ensure unhindered humanitarian assistance, and pave the way for a credible political process toward lasting peace.

The statement urged Israel to must immediately cease attacks.

The statement further said Pakistan appreciates the efforts of President Trump for peace in Gaza, and sincerely hopes that it will result in a durable ceasefire and a just, comprehensive and lasting peace. “Pakistan will continue to contribute constructively and meaningfully to this process,” it added.

Pakistan reaffirms its principled support for the Palestinian cause and stands in complete solidarity with the Palestinian people in their just struggle to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination leading to the establishment of a sovereign, viable and contiguous State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy and relevant UN resolutions.

PM talks to JI chief

On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif categorically said that Pakistan neither recognize the Israeli state nor maintain diplomatic ties with it.

The Prime Minister held a telephonic conversation with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, during which the two leaders discussed the situation in the Middle East, with a particular focus on the urgent need for a ceasefire in Palestine, a Prime Minister’s Office news release said.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the government’s active role in ensuring the safe return of Pakistani nationals detained by Israel after their participation in the Global Sumud Flotilla, including former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan.

PM Sharif informed that Islamabad remained in close contact with friendly nations and international organizations to secure the early release and repatriation of its citizens.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of halting the ongoing bloodshed of Palestinians, reaffirming that Pakistan’s stance on the Palestinian cause has always been “clear and unequivocal.”

He underscored that Pakistan has consistently raised its voice for the oppressed Palestinian people at every global forum and will continue to do so.

Reiterating Pakistan’s long-standing position, Shehbaz Sharif said the country firmly supports the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

He expressed hope that the collective efforts of eight Islamic countries working for a ceasefire would soon bear fruit, paving the way for peace and the realization of the long-cherished dream of a Palestinian state.

Shehbaz Sharif voiced confidence that detained Pakistanis would soon be brought home safely.
