Allama Iqbal Express derails in Sukkur

Two bogies of Allama Iqbal Express which was going from Karachi to Punjab derailed near Pidaidan in Sukkur disrupting trail traffic for hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

A relief train from Rohri loco shed has reached the accident site.

According to Railways authorities, the relief operation was underway for the last one and a half hours.

The front part of Allama Iqbal Express was separated from the derailed carriages and chugged to Bharia Road Railway Station.

The rear carriages of the affected train are being sent to Pidaidan Railway Station and the derailed carriages are being removed from the track, said the rail authorities.

Due to the accident, the up track has been suspended for the last five hours between Karachi and Pidaidan. Other trains going from Karachi to Punjab have been stopped at different stations.

The Bahauddin Zikariya Train has been stopped at Darya Khan Railway Station while Farid Express has been stopped at Bandhi Station.

Green Line Train is stationed at Dor Railway Station, Khyber Mail at Nawabshah Station, and Sukkur Express at Shahdadpur Railway Station.
