The Election Commission on Friday cleared the confusion surrounding the local government elections and told the Punjab government that elections could not be held until January 31.
The Election Commission says it took the decision in consultation with the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).
Earlier, the election commission had sought the Punjab government’s advice on the local government elections, but the Punjab government had not responded. On this, the Election Commission made the decision on its own.
The Election Commission says it will review the situation after January 31 and again consult the NCOC on the elections.
