Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani met Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq at the latter’s residence on Thursday. The ongoing political situation in wake of the Senate election came under discussion during the meeting.

According to sources, the Senate chairman sought the JI chief’s support in the upcoming election on the seat of chairman of the upper house of the parliament.

PM Imran Khan announced Sadiq Sanjrani as a candidate for Chairman Senate, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz said in a tweet.

The elections for the Senate chairman would be held on March 12.
