Veteral Yasir Shah hints at retirement after talks with PCB

Veteran Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah has hinted that his illustrious cricket career may be nearing its end, revealing that he is contemplating retirement after holding discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

In an exclusive conversation with a local media,  the 39-year-old confirmed that he has opted out of the ongoing domestic season, a move that signals a formal decision on his future could be announced soon.

“I am not playing domestic cricket this year. God willing, I will finalise my decision after meeting with the PCB,” Yasir said.

Widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s most successful Test bowlers of the modern era, Yasir represented the national team in 48 Tests, claiming 244 wickets at an average of 31.38.

He was particularly dominant in UAE conditions, where Pakistan played their home Tests for nearly a decade, taking 116 wickets at an impressive average of 24.56.

Yasir also etched his name in cricketing history by becoming the fastest bowler to reach 200 Test wickets, achieving the milestone in just 33 matches, a record that underscored his mastery of leg-spin and consistency at the highest level.

While Yasir has been out of national contention in recent years, his contribution to Pakistan’s Test success, especially between 2014 and 2018, remains unmatched.

His impending decision is expected to mark the end of an era for Pakistan’s spin department.
