Viral audio on ‘additional screening’ of Kashmiris at Islamabad checkpoints declared fake: Police
Authorities have dismissed as fake and baseless an audio clip circulating on social media that claimed citizens from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) were being subjected to additional screening in Punjab.
The clip, which surfaced following recent protests by the Awami Action Committee in AJK, was featured in a vlog by YouTuber Imran Riaz, currently residing in London. In his video, Riaz claimed that a journalist had sent him the audio.
In the recording, an unidentified voice was heard instructing police officials to “humiliate Kashmiris” and detain those without identity cards — remarks that sparked outrage online.
However, both Islamabad and Punjab Police have categorically rejected the authenticity of the audio, calling it “misleading propaganda.”
In an official statement, Islamabad Police said the audio was being spread to create “a false impression” and clarified that no discriminatory directives had been issued against citizens from Kashmir.
“All security checkpoints and inspection points are operating as usual,” a police spokesperson said, adding that no additional screening or targeting of Kashmiris had taken place in any police jurisdiction.

Police urged citizens to avoid spreading rumours and rely only on verified information from official sources. They also advised people to call helpline 15 in case of any issue.
Officials further stated that no complaints had been received from Kashmiri residents, community groups, or human rights organisations regarding any such screening.
Based on the official clarification and lack of evidence, authorities have concluded that the audio clip played in the vlog was fabricated and misleading.
