The heavy snowfall in Abbottabad’s Galiyat region has caused suspension of vehicular traffic at hill resorts like Thandiani, Galiyat, Abbottabad-Murree Road, and other linked roads, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The snowfall began late at night on Sunday and caused slippage on Murree road, while mostly roads were buried under the snow on Monday.

Galiyat Development Authority have started snow-removal operation, and shortly the roads will be cleared and the traffic will be restored.

In the meantime, the continuous rainfall in the most popular hill station Murree has intensified the cold.

The minimum temperature was recorded -3.

According to the Department of Meteorological department, intermittent rainfall is expected in Murree for a period of 12 hours.

Similarly, a new spell of rainfall and snowfall hit the Leepa Valley since night, disputing the normalcy of daily life in the valley.

Road from Leepa to Reshian, Moji, and Sher Gali were completely shut after a glacier slid across the road during a snowfall, affecting the commuters severely.

The Leepa Valley Administration advised people not to travel unnecessarily.

Weather forecasters suggested that this round of snow and rain will last for another 12 hours, after which time traffic will be restored.

On the other hand, Chitral and its suburbs have received the heavy snowfall this year and paralyzed the life there.

All road leading to Chitral’s Parwak Valley were blocked by snow.

However, the National Highway Authority officials worked tirelessly to remove the snow and to open the road for all types of traffic.
