Former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan said on Monday that the nations were governed by laws, and it was the constitution of the country that determined what was right and what was wrong, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a video message, he regretted that ever since the ‘imported’ government had come to power, the constitution had been torn into bits and pieces.

“The court had ordered that local bodies’ elections in Islamabad should be held within 48 hours,” Imran said, adding, “A month has passed but there is no sign of elections.”

PTI chief regretted that despite the fact that the constitution protected basic liberties of people, still the party leaders and workers were whisked away by the authorities and tortured in detention.

So much so, he added, that some PTI leaders were still coming to grips with the aftermath of the inhuman treatment they suffered during detention. “What else could be more tragic than the fact that people were picked up for just making a tweet,” he said, adding, “Those who peacefully protested on May 25, 2022 were mercilessly beaten up.”

“The situation has come to such a pass that people have now started losing trust in the laws of the land and the constitution,” former premier said.

Imran went on to say it was clearly written in the constitution that elections would be held within 90 days of the dissolution of an assembly.
