BHC chief justice reviews development projects in Quetta, orders improved traffic and drainage

Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court Kamran Khan Malakhail on Tuesday visited various development projects being carried out under the Chief Minister Development Package in Quetta and reviewed progress on them.

During the visit, the chief justice issued clear instructions to the concerned authorities to ensure smooth traffic flow across the city and provide maximum relief to citizens. He emphasized that public convenience should remain the top priority during the execution of all development works.

Officials briefed the chief justice that the installation of a traffic divider following the expansion of Anscomb Road has proved effective, significantly reducing traffic pressure on Zarghun Road. According to the project director, road expansion projects have entered their final stages, with construction completed up to Science College Chowk.

The briefing further revealed that between 20,000 and 22,000 vehicles are being diverted from Anscomb Road on a daily basis, resulting in noticeable improvement in traffic flow on MA Jinnah Road. To further enhance traffic management, it was decided to install additional surveillance cameras at key points across the city.

Justice Kamran Khan Mulakhel also directed authorities to accelerate drainage work, particularly in the aftermath of recent rains, to prevent water accumulation and related public inconvenience.

Later, the Chief Justice inspected ongoing drainage and development works at Imdad Chowk, expressing satisfaction over the pace of work while calling for continued monitoring to ensure timely completion and quality standards.

The visit reflects the judiciary’s active role in overseeing public welfare projects and ensuring that development initiatives translate into tangible relief for the people of Quetta.
