Jahangir Tareen’s brother takes his own life; police find suicide note

Alamgir Khan Tareen, brother of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) leader Jahangir Khan Tareen, committed suicide in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

According to police sources, Alamgir Tareen who was also a co-owner of PSL franchise Multan Sultan shot himself in the head at his home and died. Police reached Alamgir's home after receiving information about the incident.

Alamgir Tareen was residing in an apartment near Siddiq Trade Centre in Gulberg area of Lahore.

Police officials informed the media that Alamgir Tareen, who was suffering from a prolonged illness, shot himself with his own pistol.

Police officials confirmed that they have found a suicide note which Alamgir Tareen himself wrote before killing himself.

The text of the suicide note says: “I am taking my life as I am fed of my sickness.”

The police said the bullet pierced the temple on right side of the head. Tareen used his own licensed Glock pistol for committing suicide, the police added.

The police have sent the suicide note and the pistol to the laboratory for forensic analysis.

The dead body was shifted to a hospital. 

After the post-mortem, the dead body of Alamgir Khan Tareen was handed over to the heirs and shifted to Jahangir Khan Tareen's residence at 99-A Model Town in Lahore.

The police said an autopsy of the deceased will determine the cause of death.

Additional IG CTD Wasim Sial said they were looking at the incident from every angle.

Police officials said a GSR Test of Alamgir Tareen will be done to confirm whether he committed suicide or it was a murder while a handwriting test of his 'letter of suicide' found near the deceased will also be conducted.
The dead body of former MNA Alamgir Khan Tareen has been shifted to the residence of the deceased's brother Jahangir Khan Tareen.
Some prominent political and social figures have arrived at Jahangir Khan Tareen's residence and expressed their deep grief and sorrow at the death of his brother Alamgir Tareen.

Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party leader Aleem Khan also visited the residence of Alamgir Tareen.

The funeral prayer of the deceased will be performed at ten o'clock in the night.
