Death toll in Lyari’s Baghdadi building collapse reaches 27 as rescue efforts enter third day

The death toll in the devastating building collapse in the Baghdadi area of Lyari has reached 27, with rescue operations ongoing for over 56 hours, according to Rescue 1122 officials.

The tragic incident occurred at Phuta Mansion, where the multi-storey residential structure came crashing down, trapping dozens under the debris. So far, 27 bodies have been recovered, including 9 women, 15 men, and 3 children.

Additionally, five people, including three women, have been injured and were immediately shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi via Edhi ambulances.

According to Rescue 1122 spokespersons, more people are feared to be trapped beneath the rubble, and the search-and-rescue operation is still in full swing. Heavy machinery, sniffer dogs, and manual efforts are being deployed as teams race against time to find survivors.

The prolonged operation has now entered its third day, with anxious families and locals gathered around the site, hoping for news of missing loved ones.
