50 doctors contract coronavirus in Gujranwala

The Punjab government’s efforts to keep the fight against the deadly coronavirus alive in Gujranwala received a dent on Saturday when 50 of the doctors contracted Covid-19, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
This was so far the biggest jump in the tally of the paramedical fell sick to the virus.
These 50 doctors were treating coronavirus-infected patients in different hospitals of Gujranwala.
President Pakistan Medical Alliance Gujranwala Dr Zahid Jafri said three doctors are undergoing treatment at DHQ Hospital.
Dr Jafri further stressed that citizens should not neglect safety measures to prevent this deadly coronavirus.
There are recent reports that more than 100 doctors are suffering from coronavirus in Faisalabad and are under treatment at three government hospitals – Allied, DHQ and General Hospital Ghulam Muhammadabad.
Doctors alleged the district administration was responsible for such a state of affairs. They said new wards had been set up at the Allied and DHQ hospitals without precautionary measures although sufficient beds were available at the General Hospital Ghulam Muhammadabad. The General Hospital dedicated for the Covid-19 treatment has 250 beds and only 60 are being occupied.
