Concerns of parties interested in purchase of PIA addressed, says privatization minister

Federal Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan said on Thursday that the concerns of the parties interested in the purchase of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had been addressed, and it was hoped that all stages in the way of the privatization of the airline would be completed in the next three months, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

“The government is finalizing a new plan to make the privatization of the airline more attractive,” said the minister while talking exclusively on the subject.   

He further said that in this regard, the government was expecting a very positive response from investors.  

Khan expressed optimism that the resumption of the airline’s flights to Europe would make the environment more conducive for its privatization.  

He added that due to some steps taken recently, the national flag carrier was again going to turn into a profit-making organisation. “PIA’s flights to the UK are going to start in the next three months,” he informed.

The minister claimed that the entire Pakistani nation preferred to travel via PIA. “After the UK, our next target is the resumption of flights to the USA and Far East.”

He expressed the resolve to restore the PIA’s prestige so that its past glory could be revived. “There is still a lot of potential in the airline that it could again be turned into a profit-making organisation.”
