Pakistan witnesses surge in registration of new companies
Pakistan has witnessed a notable rise in registration of new companies, which signals a growing economic momentum, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
According to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), in February alone, 3,444 new companies were registered, bringing the total number of registered companies in the country to 287,049
The month also saw a rise in foreign participation, with 82 companies, including foreign partnerships.
Chinese nationals secured directorships in 44 companies, while investors from the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, and other countries invested in sectors such as mining, trading, and information technology (IT).
Punjab led provincial registrations with 1,696 companies, followed by Islamabad with 656 and Sindh with 555.
In terms of sectors, IT and e-commerce accounted for 723 new companies, while trading saw 531, services 434, and real estate 323 registrations, according to a press release issued.
Other industries registering new companies included mining, textiles, education, healthcare, sports goods, cables, and electrical goods, reflecting a broad-based growth across the economy.
This surge in registrations highlights Pakistan’s increasing attractiveness for both domestic and foreign investors and points to a dynamic business environment across multiple sectors.
