PPP CEC meets in Karachi to discuss constitutional matters

The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Central Executive Committee (CEC) convened an important meeting in Karachi on Thursday, chaired by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

President Asif Ali Zardari also attended the high-level session, which brought together senior party leaders, provincial chief ministers, governors and central office bearers from across the country.

Among those present were Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider, Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Mehdi Shah, Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.

Prominent PPP leaders including Raza Rabbani, Sharjeel Memon, Saeed Ghani, Shazia Marri, Saber Baloch, Umar Gurgej, Humayun Khan, Naveed Qamar, Sherry Rehman and Nadeem Afzal Chan also attended the session.

According to party sources, the meeting featured a detailed briefing on constitutional matters by senior PPP leader and legal expert Farooq H. Naik. Some members reportedly expressed reservations about the proposed 27th Amendment, prompting an in-depth discussion on its implications for provincial autonomy and the federation’s balance of power.

The CEC meeting is expected to continue deliberations on the party’s political strategy and constitutional reforms in the coming days.
