Govt starts process to export imported sugar
The federal government has started the process to export imported sugar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The Trading Corporation of Pakistan issued a tender for the export of imported sugar. Bids invited for export of 107,739 metric tons of sugar.
According to tender documents, TCP has invited electronic bids through e-PADs till September 28 and bids will be opened on September 28. Manual bids will not be accepted.
Sources said the federal government imported more than 300,000 metric tonnes of sugar last year.
Pakistan spent about Rs50 billion on sugar imports, sources added.
