Active coronavirus cases in Pakistan drop below 19,000

Pakistan reported 782 new coronavirus cases and 17 deaths during the past 24 hours, shows the figures released by National Command and Operation Centre on Friday morning.
It means the overall number of cases has increased to 282,645 while the death toll currently stands at 6,052.
Moreover, there is a marked decline in the number of active coronavirus cases as 18,494 people are currently infected by the deadly virus. Out of these patients, 826 are in a critical condition and being treated in the intensive care units of different hospitals across the country.
The number of active cases in the country was 25,149 on August 1, 77,573 on July 15 and 108,642 on July 2, which is a manifestation of how well the pandemic has been contained during the past weeks.
This was made possible by the fact that 258,099 people have so far fully recovered from the infection.
As far as the regional distribution of the reported cases in concerned, Sindh is unfortunately far ahead on the list with 122,759 infections. The details for other provinces/ regions are: 94,040 in Punjab, 34,432 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,182 in Islamabad, 11,821 in Balochistan, 2,287 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 2,124 in Azad Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Sindh has recorded 2,250 deaths followed by Punjab 2,164, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,219, Islamabad 170, Balochistan 137, Azad Kashmir 57 and Gilgit-Baltistan 55.
On the other hand, a total of 2,079,933 tests have so far been administered since the coronavirus pandemic outbreak in the country.
