GB elections: Counting of votes underway as PPP bags victory on two seats

The counting of votes underway in Gilgit-Baltistan general elections. According to unofficial results, PPP bags victory on two seats while an independent wins at one constituency, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.  

According to unofficial results, PPP candidate Syed Tauqir Mehdi has obtained victory in Skardu I by getting 4295 votes. Raja Jalal of the Pakistan Istehkam Party obtained second place with 3849 votes while PML-N candidate Haji Akbar Taban came in third place with 2667 votes. 

 GBA-24 (Nagar I)

According to unofficial results of all polling stations, PPP candidate wins GBA Nagar I seat with 7076 votes. Pakistan Peoples Party candidate Muhammad Ali Akhtar won by getting 7076 votes. Islami Tehreek-e-Pakistan's Muhammad Ayub Waziri came in second with 6566 votes.

 GBA-24 (Ghanche-III)

According to unofficial results in GBA-24 (Ghanche-III) from all 46 polling stations, an independent candidate Dr Asad Shafiq wins the seat with 8092 votes, while PPP candidate Engineer Muhammad Ismail remained second with 5072 votes. 

 According to the final voter lists of the Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan, the total number of voters in the 10 districts of the region is 963,034, including 566,097 male and 456,937 female voters.

In all, 396 candidates are in the fray for the 24 general seats of the Gilgit Assembly, including 266 independent candidates.

The Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly consists of thirty-three seats, including twenty-four directly elected members, six seats for women and three seats reserved for technocrats.

GBA-12 Shigar, PPP candidate Imran Nadeem leads 

According to unofficial results from multiple polling stations in GBA-12 Shigar, PPP candidate Imran Nadeem is leading with 1,281 votes, while PML-N candidate Tahir Shigri is in second position with 702 votes .

According to the combined results from 15 polling stations, PPP’s Imran Nadeem leads with 2,268 votes. PML-N’s Tahir Shigri remains in second place with 1,067 votes.

 GBA-2 PML-N’s Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman leads

 According to unofficial results from multiple polling stations in GBA-2 (Gilgit-II), PML-N candidate Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman secured 170 votes. PPP candidate Jameel Ahmed received 96 votes.

At the Padi Bangla RMS polling station, PPP’s Jameel Ahmed stood first with 75 votes, while Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party candidate Fattahullah secured 59 votes. At the Bagh Middle School polling station, PML-N’s Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman once again led with 235 votes, followed by PTI candidate Atiq Pirzada with 11 votes.

Meanwhile, combined unofficial results from seven polling stations show PML-N’s Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman in the lead with 858 votes. PPP candidate Jameel Ahmed is in second place with 383 votes, while IPP’s Fattahullah Khan stands third with 83 votes.

In unofficial results from eight polling stations, PML-N candidate Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman has further strengthened his lead with 1,147 votes. PPP candidate Jameel Ahmed is in second place with 784 votes, while IPP’s Fattahullah Khan remains in third position with 83 votes.

These results remain unofficial and partial, as vote counting continues across GBA-2, with final results yet to be confirmed by the Election Commission.

 In GBA-16 Diamer-II, independent candidate leads

 According to unofficial results in GBA-16 Diamer-II, at the Thore Khot Bat polling station, independent candidate Syed Imam Malik secured 151 votes, leading the count. Istehkam Party Pakistan candidate Atiqullah followed with 141 votes. PPP candidate Attaullah received 74 votes, while PML-N candidate Engineer Muhammad Anwar secured 69 votes. At the Khinar Hechi Women Polling Station, Syed Imam Malik again led with 84 votes. Atiqullah of Istehkam Party Pakistan received 71 votes, followed by PML-N’s Engineer Muhammad Anwar with 58 votes. PPP candidate Attaullah secured 46 votes.

At the Roni Primary School polling station, Istehkam Party Pakistan’s Atiqullah emerged on top with 195 votes. PPP candidate Attaullah came second with 143 votes, PML-N’s Engineer Muhammad Anwar secured 123 votes, and independent candidate Syed Imam Malik received 69 votes.

In combined unofficial results from three polling stations, Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party candidate Atiqullah is leading with 407 votes. Independent candidate Syed Imam Malik is in second place with 309 votes, followed by PPP candidate Attaullah with 263 votes. PML-N candidate Engineer Muhammad Anwar stands fourth with 250 votes. These results remain unofficial and partial, as vote counting is still underway across the constituency.

In GBA-4 Nagar PPP candidate Ali Akhtar leads

According to unofficial result announced for GB-4 Nagar Constituency at Veterinary Hospital Chalt Pain Polling Station, PPP Candidate Ali Akhtar Leads with 76 Votes. Islamic Tehreek Pakistan Candidate Muhammad Ayub Wazir Secures 70 Votes. An independent Candidate Dr Ali Muhammad secures third position.

GBA-23 (Ghanche-II)

According to unofficial results from 27 polling stations in GBA-23 (Ghanche-II), an independent candidate Anwar Ali was leading with 8,237 votes, while independent candidate Haji Abdul Hamid is in second place with 1,507 votes.

In updated results from 27 out of 50 polling stations, Anwar Ali continues to maintain a strong lead with 8,237 votes, followed by Haji Abdul Hamid with 1,507 votes. These results remain unofficial and partial, as vote counting is still underway across the constituency, with final confirmation expected from the Election Commission.

GBA-22 (Ghanche)

According to unofficial results in GBA-22 (Ghanche) from 30 polling stations, PML-N candidate Ibrahim Sanai is leading with 6,900 votes, while PPP candidate Ashiq Hussain is in second position with 4,120 votes.

In updated results from 30 out of 58 polling stations, PML-N’s Ibrahim Sanai continues to maintain his lead with 6,900 votes, followed by PPP’s Ashiq Hussain with 4,120 votes.

The polling which started at 8am in the morning and continued without any interruption till 5pm in the evening

Chief Election Commissioner Gilgit-Baltistan Raja Shahbaz Khan has ordered Returning Officers (ROs) of all 24 constituencies that all Presiding Officers of their respective constituencies should be immediately directed to provide a certified copy of Form-45 (Statement of the Count) to the polling agents of all candidates present at the polling station.
This process should be ensured strictly in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Election Act 2017 and the Election Rules 2017 so that transparency is maintained in the electoral process and the stages of transmission and declaration of results can be completed smoothly. It said All Returning Officers are requested to ensure full implementation of the above instructions in their true spirit.

Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner Gilgit-Baltistan Raja Shahbaz Khan has delegated powers of first class magistrate to all District Returning Officers and Returning Officers for the peaceful and transparent conduct of the general elections.

Earlier, Gilgit-Baltistan Caretaker Information Minister Ghulam Abbas urged the people to come out of their homes and exercise their right to vote, as the government and the Election Commission have made foolproof security arrangements for the elections, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday. 
In his message, Ghulam Abbas said police, rangers, GB Scouts and Pakistan Army personnel are deployed for security. 
'Gilgit-Baltistan elections have begun today, and a large number of people are exercising their right to vote in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections,' Ghulam Abbas said.
He said the people and the government are peaceful for the peaceful conduct of the elections.
The people should come out of their homes and exercise their right to vote, Ghulam Abbas added.
He prayed may the journey of development and prosperity of Gilgit-Baltistan continue.
