India receive U-18 Asia Cup gold medals from FIH president Tayyab Ikram

India were crowned champions of the Under-18 Hockey Asia Cup after defeating hosts Japan 4-1 in the final, with players receiving their gold medals from International Hockey Federation (FIH) President Tayyab Ikram, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.

The tournament, held in Japan, concluded with a dominant performance from India, who secured the title thanks largely to a hat-trick from Ashish Tani in the championship match.

Following the final, Tayyab Ikram, who hails from Pakistan and currently heads the International Hockey Federation, presented gold medals to the Indian players and congratulated them on their victory.

He also exchanged handshakes with members of the winning team during the medal ceremony.

India had earlier booked their place in the final by defeating Pakistan in the semi-finals.

In the title match, the Indian side outclassed Japan to claim a 4-1 victory and lift the trophy.

Japan finished as runners-up, while Pakistan secured third place and Malaysia finished fourth in the tournament standings.
