Online riding services also increase fares

While on one hand, people are extremely upset at a mindboggling rise in the petroleum products’ prices, online riders, too, are equally perturbed and the hike has forced online rickshaw, motorcycle rickshaw and taxi drivers to raise their fares by 20 per cent, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Speaking to the 24News TV channel, drivers in Lahore have said that along with petrol, the price of LPG has also risen to Rs350 per kilo, and due to an increase in their prices, they have been left with no option but to increase their fares as well.

They have also complained that passengers do not pay excessive fares.

On the other hand, citizens have appealed to the government to slash the prices of petroleum products so that they could earn their livelihoods with ease.

Same is the mood in Karachi where commuters and motorists have said it is unfortunate that the government has dropped a bombshell on them, and that, too, in the holy month of Ramadan.

People, who hire vehicles and motorcycles online for travelling, are especially not comfortable with the government’s decision.

They have expressed the fear that now the prices of all items will skyrocket.

The government needs to revisit its decision of hike in petroleum products prices, they have requested.
