The Punjab Information and Culture Department (PICD) secretary Sunday suspended the administrative and financial power of the director from the Board for Advancement of Literature (BAL).
As per the notice issued by the PICD secretary, he has been suspended from the administrative and financial powers of the director from the BAL with immediate effect in the public interest till further orders.
On the other hand, Worker Pakistan Movement (WPM) Secretary Riaz Ahmad Chaudhry wrote a letter to the Punjab Minister for Culture to cancel the illegal appointment of Sofia Bedar in the Urdu Advancement Board (UAB).
The WPM secretary said that she was a retired official from Punjab Arts Council, Faisalabad and her appointment was contrary to the Supreme Court’s verdict of baring re-appointing in any public office receiving grants from the government.
He said that she was appointed by Mansoor Afaaq, Director of the UAB and Nazaria Pakistan Trust (NPT) to replace her to capture the land owned by the Bazm-e-Iqbal.
Riaz said Mansoor and Sofia placed some false and baseless news items in the Prime Minister Citizen Portal to grab the land. Such news items were quite defamatory.
