Snow falls on AJK mountains for second day

With the beginning of the winter season, the snowfall continued on the second consecutive day   on Muzaffarabad mountains hills in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

AJK State Disaster Management Authority advised people to avoid travel to urban upland areas amid heavy snowfall. 

As per the weather office, Muzaffarabad, Neelum, upper regions of Jhelum valley became chiller due to snowfall on mountains. 

Also, intermittent rains increased the cold in lower areas of the valley. The significant mountain snow in Muzaffarabad hills including Makra, Saran and Pirchanasi brought much colder temperature in the valley. 

The weather office said that cold winds ae the reason behind gradual increase in cold temperature. 

The weather office predicted snowfall and rain in parts of Azad Kashmir on mountains on Monday (today).

A westerly wave is still affecting most upper and western parts of the country and may persist in western parts till Monday (today).

Partly cloudy weather with more rain-wind/thunderstorm (snow over hilly areas) is expected in Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

On Tuesday, mainly dry weather is likely in most parts of the country. However, isolated rain-wind/thunderstorm (snow over hilly areas) is expected in Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

In past 24 hour, rain-wind/thunderstorm occurred at upper/central Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and Balochistan.
