Tea prices.…Too hot to sip

November 7, 2022 05:08 PM

Tea prices have shocked consumers yet again amid already surging inflation and economic woes, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

The price of a 900-gram tea packet has been increased by Rs200, and now it is being sold at Rs1500. The price of a 475-gram tea pack has risen by Rs100 and is now being sold at Rs750.

Retailers Association General Secretary Farid Qureshi listed a number of reasons—tea prices also increased in Kenya and dollar fluctuation— behind the prices go skyrocketed.

It merits here to mention that the tea in Pakistan is being imported from Kenya and Uganda.

However, traders have warned that tea prices may rise more at the local level.
