Death toll in Kandhkot coach crash rises to nine

After the expiry of three more people, the death toll in passenger coach accident in Kandhkot rose to nine on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

All the dead and injured persons were members of Tableeji Jamaat. The ill-fated passenger coach was going from Thall to Lahore. The accident took place on the Tangwani Indus Highway. 

Sixty people, including the driver, were on board the coach. 51 injured passengers were admitted to different hospitals in Sukkur, Larkana, and Rahim Yar Khan where the condition of 20 passengers is critical. 

The rescue teams rushed to the scene shortly after receiving information about the accident and began an operation to recover the victims.

The bodies of those killed and the injured passengers were shifted to Taluka Hospital Tangwani and Taluka Hospital Thull for medical treatment.

The hospital authorities received the injured passengers for treatment, while the bodies were also taken to the hospitals for identification and completion of necessary procedures.

The deputy commissioner said that arrangements were being made to shift passengers who had suffered serious injuries to hospitals in Sukkur. 

The accident caused concern among residents and motorists in the area, while rescue personnel continued their response following the crash.

The officials said the exact circumstances surrounding the accident were being assessed. The initial information indicated that the coach was travelling at high speed before it overturned near Sukar Mor.

The road accidents involving passenger vehicles are a recurring concern on major highways, particularly where speeding and other road safety violations increase the risk of serious crashes.
