PM approves appointment of 8 press officers abroad, key bureaucratic changes notified

The federal government on Wednesday approved the appointment of eight new press officers at Pakistan’s missions abroad, alongside several key transfers and additional charges within the federal bureaucracy.

According to official details, four Press Counselors (Grade 19) and four Press Attachés (Grade 18) from the Information Group have been appointed to different capitals.

Among the senior appointments, Fatimah Sheikh has been posted as Press Counselor in Moscow, Dr. Sohail Aftab in Berlin, Zubia Masood in Washington, and Shabdullah in Dhaka.

At the level of Press Attachés, Sidra Hussain has been appointed in Ankara, Omar Liaquat in Riyadh, Syeda Adila Rabab Kazmi in Baku and Zil-e-Huma in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, the Establishment Division has issued multiple notifications regarding changes in the federal bureaucracy.

In a significant move, Secretary Establishment Division Nabil Ahmed Awan, a Grade 22 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, has been assigned the additional charge of Chairman Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). The arrangement will remain in place for three months or until a permanent chairman is appointed, whichever comes earlier.

In other transfers, Joint Secretary Federal Education Division Asif Iqbal Asif has been relieved of his duties and his services have been returned to the office of the Auditor General of Pakistan.

Additionally, Joint Secretary Power Division Tauqir Hussain Shah has been transferred and posted Joint Secretary in the Federal Education Division.

Furthermore, Section Officer Amjad Ali Khan has been transferred from the Information Technology and Telecommunication Division and posted on deputation for three years in the Universal Service Fund (USF) Company under the same division.

These appointments and transfers are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline administrative functions and strengthen representation at key international postings.
