The suspects involved in the smuggling of heroin into India through drones turned out to be policemen, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) identified the accused and registered a case against them based on solid evidence.

A police official named Sharafat, deployed in the Nazarat Branch of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, was nominated in the case.

Drones were used to smuggle heroin into India, the text of the FIR read.

An ANF team seized heroin and a drone used for drug smuggling during a raid in the border area.

The suspects, however, managed to escape during the raid, the ANF sources said.

They were identified as Abdul Razzaq, Jaida, Sharafat, Mustafa, and Ijaz Dayal.

“The drug traffickers’ gang has support from across the border,” the text of the FIR read.
