The Lahore High Court has declared null and void the demarcation of new constituencies made by the Election Commission of Pakistan in PA-35 and PA-59 in Wazirabad and Gakhar Mandi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Justice Ali Baqir Najafi of Lahore High Court heard the petitions against demarcation of Lahore and Hafizabad on Friday.
PML-N leader Ataullah Tarar appeared in the court while Advocate Supreme Court Azam Nazir Tarar presented arguments.
The petition stated that the changes were made in NA-123 and Gakhar Mandi constituencies and the law was not taken into account while doing so.
It has been stated in the petition that the population of one constituency has been increased and the population of another constituency has been reduced, while the population of the constituencies given in the law cannot be increased or decreased proportionately.
The Lahore High Court was prayed to declare the constituencies made on an unfair basis null and void.
After hearing the arguments, the court declared the constituencies of PP-35 and PA-59 Wazirabad and Ghakkar Mandi null and void.
