Media team wins FFC Diplomatic Cricket Tournament 2024

The FFC Diplomatic Cricket Tournament 2024 was held on Sunday with the Media Team winning the title.

Two teams from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and teams of the UNICEF and UNHCR failed to advance into the finals. 

Around 12 teams from various embassies, non-government organizations, United Nations, MOFA and media contested for three days to lift the trophy. During the tournament, both teams from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs failed to advance to the next round, whereas the teams of UNHCR and UNICEF managed to enter the semi-finals.

The final was played between the Fauji Fertilizers Corporation and the Media Team and won by the media team by 5 wickets. Miftah Ismael, General Secretary of Awam Pakistan Party, and Ambassador of Bulgaria to Pakistan Irena Gancheva were the chief guests at the event.

Talking to 24 News exclusively, the Ambassador of Bulgaria, Irena Gancheva, stated, “The sport’s is a universal language and it plays an important role to bring people of different countries and the nations together to create unity and mutual understanding.” 

Elaborating further, Irena Gancheva noted that such events send message of peace from Pakistan to rest of the world. “The organizers, sponsors and all participants of the tournament came here with the idea to promote cricket, the sports that is very famous in Pakistan and through this famous Pakistani sport they just send message of understanding, peace and harmony."

The winning side was awarded with meddles and trophy, whereas the runner-up team was also given meddles.

Khurram Siddiqui was declared the Best Player and Man of the Tournament, Ahsan Waheed secured the Best Bowler award whereas the Best Wicketkeeper award went to Ghayour from the Media Team.
