Two cops martyred in attack on Bannu police post

Two policemen embraced martyrdom during an attack initiated by unidentified assailants on a police post in Fatehkhel area of Bannu, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

The dead policemen were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Bannu for medico-legal proceedings. Further investigation was underway.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has condemned the terrorist attack on Fatehkhel police post in Bannu and paid tribute to the two martyred policemen.

In his message, the Interior Minister expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured policeman.

He said we salute the sacrifice of the two martyred officers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police. 

Mohsin Naqvi said the police is playing the role of a vanguard in the war against terrorism.

The brave sons of KP Police have made history by sacrificing their lives, Mohsin Naqvi said.

He said the great sacrifices of the brave sons of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police will not go in vain. 

The attack came after Wednesday’s assault on a police station in Township area of Bannu which was repulsed.

A group of militants attacked the police station at around 12.30am with light and heavy weapons. The attack was multi-pronged aiming to take over the building of the police station, but the cops deployed there retaliated effectively and forced the assailants to flee the place.
