The Karachi administration has stopped Jamaat-e-Islami from the public press conference in front of Sindh Election Commission office and arrested several leaders, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to JI spokesperson, the camp set up for the public press conference was removed.

Preventing a public press conference in front of the Election Commission office is a clear violation of the constitution.

Fear of a peaceful and public press conference is proof that the voice of truth is being suppressed.

Jamaat-e-Islami has always struggled within the ambit of the law.

The people's right to vote and express their opinion cannot be stopped by force.

Running a public camp in front of the Election Commission is an insult to democratic values.

Police started making arrests during the press conference.

Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi's acting Ameer Muslim Pervez, Sindh Assembly Member Muhammad Farooq Ahmad and other responsible persons were arrested.

The police administration also closed all shops and hotels outside the Election Commission Sindh office.

The arrested include district chiefs Sufyan Dilawar, Mudassar Hussain Ansari and other responsible persons.
