Azma Bukhari slams Murtaza Wahab: "Even on Eid, you chose criticism over cleanup"

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has come down hard on Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab, accusing him of using Eid day for "pointless criticism" instead of addressing Karachi’s sanitation woes, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Friday.

Responding to Wahab's remarks, Bukhari said, "Even on Eid, you didn’t stop your useless criticism, just to hide your failures."

She defended Punjab's ongoing post-Eid cleanliness campaign, stating that over 140,000 workers, along with the administration and ministers, are on the ground across the province ensuring public hygiene and order.

"It’s not necessary for the Punjab Chief Minister to personally sweep the streets when an entire army of staff is already working in the field," she said, pushing back against any comparison between provincial leaderships.

Azma Bukhari criticised Sindh’s governance and its handling of Karachi’s longstanding issues.

“For two days, the Sindh Chief Minister and his battalion of ministers have been completely missing from the public scene,” she said. “You are clearly not capable of cleaning Karachi alone.”

She alleged that Sindh’s leadership has been stuck in a loop of blame and excuses for the past 16 years. “This isn’t about media management—the media is showing exactly what’s happening. The problem is, you have nothing to show and everything to hide,” she added.

In a sharp quip to wrap up her remarks, Bukhari quoted an age-old proverb: “Even Luqman the Wise had no cure for envy. Work hard, don’t be jealous.”
