Punjab Assembly proceedings go paperless

Punjab Assembly has become Pakistan’s first digitalized legislature as the assembly’s proceedings will now be conducted “paperless”, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

The digitalization phase of the Assembly was completed with installation of latest tablets inside the House. Today’s assembly session will be paperless.

In total, 280 tablets have been installed in the House, of which 371 tablets were for the chief minister, provincial ministers and Members of the Assembly.

These tablets were provided to the Punjab Assembly under European Union’s IP5 Programme, meaning neither the Punjab government nor the provincial assembly has spent any penny on the digitization project.

The application for paperless assembly proceedings was managed jointly by PITB, Law Department and assembly’s IT team.

Paperless proceedings will lead to saving millions of rupees on printing.

All assembly members will be provided agenda tablets.
