Day worker caught over ‘Rs2.6m sugar purchase’

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a day labourer on charges of purchasing sugar worth Rs2.6 million in Faisalabad district of Punjab.
The FIA detained Asghar Ali, a villager of Jaranwala town of the industrial city. He alleged the management of Hunza sugar mills misused his national identity card.
He said he was a day worker and finding it hard to make both ends meet. He made an appeal to high-ups for looking into the matter.
A couple of months ago, a report found six major sugar mill groups, belonging to key government figures were involved in racketeering sugar.
