Lawyers announce joining journalists’ protest against PMDA

The lawyers have announced to join the protest of journalists against the Pakistan Media Development Authority Bill, reported 24News HD TV channel on Wednesday.

While addressing a press conference Pakistan Bar Council Vice Chairman Abid Saqi said the incumbent government was afraid of the journalists and the lawyers.

The press conference was jointly held by the representatives of the Pakistan Bar Council, Supreme Court Bar Association, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists and Rawalpindi, Islamabad Union of Journalists at the National Press Club in Islamabad. 

Senior Journalist Nasir Zaidi said that they were united against the MDA Bill and would not let the black law pass. Former FUJ President Afzal Butt said that they would fight against MDA till their last breath. 

Supreme Court Bar Association President Latif Afridi said that media freedom was increasing in the world but it was being restricted in Pakistan. On this occasion, the journalists also announced their participation in the protest of the lawyers outside the Supreme Court.
